Companies seem to be placing more and more emphases on work skill sets vs the standard vocational or college educational experiences. We are looking for a Bachelors Degree or accumulative, relative experience back ground in …. Being able to represent your work skills in a straight forward format hasn’t been easy until now. The WSA500 now adds a new dimension to your job search toolbox and if done right could very well give you a leg up on the competition biding for the same job or career.

The WSU500 takes into account your total work time in hours as the base for dividing into your core group of work skill sets. This is a personal assessment you complete your self. I would recommend that you complete your skill list and then from direct information or from your memory, add hourly values for each of your skill sets. Don’t forget to add a miscellaneous skill so you can use it as your fudge factor to balance out your data. You may have to go back threw your form several times and reapply hourly totals until the added value equals your total time at work. This may seem like your working backwoods however, you will produce a usable form and graph you can use to demonstrate your skills to potential employers. Be honest! Don’t inflate your values; try to represent yourself honestly in your assessment of time on job. An other way to look at this is a representation of your on the job training. Upon completion, you will have a new tool in your employment toolbox. If enough folks take on this initiative, then perhaps it will become an industry standard.
