Is it worth paying for a resume writing service?
I have been in my current job as a financial advisor for 8 years and my resume is very dusty. Am better off rewriting it Myself or will paying a professional be a big benefit.
A lot of the work can be done by yourself. But if you seriously need help definitely use a resume writing service. But often ties, a second set of eyes is all it takes. There was this site that I checked out, and they looked over my resume for me and it was way cheaper than paying someone to write the whole thing for me. I don’t know about you but I seriously couldn’t drop close to $100.
How to make people impress with our resume writing??
I’m writing a resume… and needed to fill up my CAREER FOCUS section. I write them as:
Short to Medium Term Goal
"Becoming an efficient and effective engineering in building foundation towards a management resource in an engineering function"
Long Term Goal/Career Anchor
"Attaining a level of Head of Organization and lead the multi functions that combine the Technical and Commercial functions"
Does anyone here know how to improve these two sentences to make it look good/more professional.. and to influence the employer to hire me??
Short to Medium Term Goal:
I’m trying to say that I want to become an engineer who is able to do work within an engineer job scope independently with minimal mistake/error (the words "efficient" and "effective") and at the same time, I want to learn everything about management (the words "building foundation towards a management"). I want to manage things that involve engineering works i.e creating work orders, giving training to the new engineer, managing a factory etc. (I put the words "resource in an engineering function")
Long Term Goal/Career Anchor
I’m trying to say that after I have involved with engineering works for sometime, I want to proceed my career by becoming a leader of an organisation ("Attaining a level of Head of Organization") and do a multi functions job which involved my engineering skills & knowledge (the word "technical" is used) together with my managing skills to increase the company’s profit and move the company forward (the word "Commercial function")
I assume that you are an engineer. Too bad the school you attended did not put at least some emphasis on writing. These sentences are so poor that I could not even begin to edit them. Start over, write the way you talk. Head of Organization is just so awful – try leader. Really read your first sentence – do you really mean effective engineering – it doesn’t make sense.
I would suggest you prepare your resume and then go to the career center at your college for tips.

Can anyone recommend a good online resume writing services?
I think I have good resume already, but I need some help getting past the HR screeners.
I am an HR Specialist… Recruiter….. but surely not a "screener"…
If your resume if good and you have related experience to what we seek… believe me… we will consider you…. if not… then we don’t. We don’t let a good candidate go …..
So just keep trying… and ohhh don’t waste your time and ours by applying to jobs you know you don’t qualify for or don’t have qualifying experience in th field..

Will it be useful to start a nonprofit that will provide free resume writing and possibly job search services?
I want provide this service for free to people who are looking for a job, but i want to be different because most places that offer job assistance give you a cookie cutter resume and teach you how to fill out an application like you don’t know how to do that already. Then they just sit you in front of a computer and you are basically on your own. I want to take it on a case by case basis and start from where they are, instead of showing someone how to do something they already know.
It is a novel idea and Let me congratulate you for your project and i wish you all success !.
Nonprofit incorporation is very similar to creating a regular corporation except that a nonprofit must take the extra steps of applying for tax-exempt status with the state in which it incorporates and with the IRS.
The following steps should be taken :-
Select a name that is legally available in your state.
File your "articles of incorporation," and pay a filing fee.
Apply for federal and state tax exemptions.
Create bylaws that will dictate how the corporation is run.
Appoint an initial board of directors.
Hold the first meeting of the board of directors
Apply for any licenses or permits that your corporation will need to operate in your state and local municipality.
In order to qualify for tax-exempt (501c3) status , you should create a concept paper and document your ideas with the structure for the organization you propose and you must share your concept with like minded persons and involve them as initial founders.
Next step would be to contact an attorney to assist you in preparing incorporation filings in your state. After your organization in incorporated, obtain an employer ID number, and apply for 501c3 tax-exempt status with the IRS.
Your funding requirements will depend on various factors , for which you have to prepare a plan which will be of use to you in approaching potential funding sources
